A couple weeks ago Meijer sent me three boxes of their new cereal to try and review:
Toasted Oats Multigrain: I really liked these. They’re a nice in between from plain cereal to honey nut – a little sweet but not too much. Leo gobbled them down for snacks and I loved them with almond milk.
Blueberry Muffin Squares: These are a lot like Cinnamon Toast Crunch but gone blueberry muffin. They smell exactly like muffins. We were all about these when we first got them – snacking on them – but they’re the only box still left in the cupboard. I think maybe they’re a little overly sweet for us?
Probiotic and High Fiber Complete: I really liked the flakes and the fruit bits in this one. It also had yogurt chunks (with probiotics), but they were actually a little too big for me – too overpowering when I got them in a bite. I would have loved if there were fewer, or they were smaller… or if it were just the flakes and fruit. I ate a few bowls of this one but I think Dave finished the box off!
I didn’t necessarily find a new must-have cereal, but I was impressed with what Meijer had and their creativity with new flavors. And now for the fun part – Meijer has offered to ship three boxes of cereal to one lucky reader!

I noticed recently that runningskirts.com has some new maternity running skirts, so I asked them if they would be willing to send me a skirt to try and review. They were! Today in the mail I received a bunch of awesome stuff to try out!
Obviously I can’t wear the stuff out for a run at the moment due to my recent hip issues, but I’m totally in love with all the pieces. They fit really well and they’re super soft and comfortable. The tank top will be AWESOME for hot summer runs (or walks) and the skirt is so cute I’d wear it just for running errands and hanging out! Plus, the shorts underneath will be great to prevent chafing. It’s also actually the first piece of maternity clothing I have that has the full-belly panel – which is really comfortable! I started out today wearing a sundress but as soon as I got all these I put them on and I don’t plan on taking them off! I can’t wait to wear them on a run (or walk… depending how hip issues shape up)!
I have had one skirt from runningskirts.com before and while I really liked it, it ended up being just a little too small and too short for me. I gave the skirt to my sister since she has smaller hips and shorter legs. But runningskirts.com now has athletic skirts that are a little longer, so if I would get a skirt post-baby I would probably opt for an athletic skirt for a little more coverage.
The sizing for runningskirts.com runs a little small, in my opinion. The skirt I received is a large, for sizes 12-16, and fits me perfect. All my maternity clothes that I’ve bought, however, would put me in the runningskirts.com size medium range. I’d recommend going up a size in bottoms, at least for the maternity skirts. If you’re buying a non-maternity running skirt I’d strongly recommend you go by the inch measurements NOT the pants size guide for a more reliable fit. The tops sizing seem pretty accurate – the tank and long sleeve top are both mediums, for bust measurements of 35-36″, which is correct for me right now.
The even better news? Runningskirts.com has offered to give away one maternity running skirt! There are a couple ways you can enter:
- Go to runningskirts.com and tell me what skirt (maternity or non-maternity) you love the most (+1 entry).
- Become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment telling me – or leave me a comment if you already are a follower (+1 entry).
- Mention my giveaway with a link back here on your blog (+1 entry), twitter (+1 entry), or facebook (+1 entry).
Even if you’re not pregnant you could score a great skirt for a friend!
The winner will be randomly drawn from the comments and I’ll announce the winner Tuesday morning!
Awhile back I won a POM giveaway on Kimberly’s blog (remember when I stalked her?). Yesterday I got the package in the mail – and it’s awesome! Check out all it included – and all the awesome stuff Kimberly so nicely threw in!
- soup recipe book
- red quinoa (I’ve never tried red quinoa and we are down to our last cup of quinoa in the cupboard!)
- 3 strawberry fruit leathers
- 1 chocolate brownie nut luna bar
- 2 clif bars – chocolate brownie and blueberry crisp (I haven’t tried either of these)
- 3 candy easter eggs – starburst, reese’s pb cups, m&m’s
- coupon for a free bottle of POM juice
- POM recipe booklet
- POM rubber bracelet
- POM tote bag
THANK YOU, Kimberly! The additions you threw in are even better than the POM stuff!
What’s made your day or week great?
Ibuprofen either really works, I mentally need the hype of drugs to perform, or my body really liked the week-long rest it had. I got 7 miles out this morning with relatively little discomfort. It felt so good to be running again! My left shoulder blade started getting tight around 55 minutes, but faded away again. I might tackle a longer run tomorrow morning. (Note: the nurse told me I might have inflammation somewhere that is causing the pain. She said to take ibuprofen through the weekend. If it’s still bothering me after that, I should see a doctor. So the pain meds are temporary, not the ultimate solution here.)
Last winter I saw tons and tons of bloggers talking about Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea. So this year when I saw it on the shelves, I grabbed a box.
Thank goodness this was only $2 because I had one mug and really didn’t like it. It tasted overly sweet (in a sort of fake way?) and at the same time, didn’t seem to have much taste at all.
So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I’m going to give away some Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea. The first six people to comment here will get 3 bags of Sugar Cookie tea to try for themselves. The catch? You have to tell me your most embarassing story/moment.
I’ll go first, just to make it easier. When I was 8 we (me, my siblings, the other neighborhood kids) were playing kick-the-can. I went behind the neighbors’ bushes to hide… and walked right into a stream of pee. One of the neighborhood kids was peeing back there! Needless to say, my siblings still love to make fun of me for that one. They also once convinced me to eat yellow snow (from our dog), because they told me yellow snow tasted the best. So apparently I was a bit of a dippy child.
We have a RoadID winner!
Rachel said her RoadID quote would be: “Go Big or Go Home!” Rachel, email me at email@example.com and we’ll get you set up with RoadID.
And for those of you who didn’t win, you can use the coupon code ThanksKim863402 and get $1 off your order! It would make a mighty good Christmas present…
Okay, time for some more confessions:
- The shirt I’m wearing today is from Miley Cyrus’s collection.
- I kind of like it when my pee smells like coffee. (TMI?)
- I know SPAM is supposed to be gross, but I remember it tasting awesome when my mom broiled it and we ate it between saltines. To me, SPAM = delicious. Salt and grease
and unidentifiable animal parts, baby.
- Dave and I send text messages to each other pretending to be Mosie.
What are some of your confessions?
