Leo

play-doh

Yesterday afternoon while Leo napped I whipped up some play-doh for him using  a recipe I found on Pinterest.  I made three different colors and it probably took me 5 minutes total – super easy.  Plus, using kool-aid makes it smell really great!  My colors are a little off because 1) I only had one packet of color per batch and 2) I only had wheat flour.  Still, Leo didn’t mind!

After dinner we busted out the colors and Dave helped me handle the dough.  We worked each color for about 5-10 minutes which really helped it come together, even out, and feel smoother.

Leo, for his part, really liked seeing us make different shapes, although he was slightly more tentative about getting in there himself.  Toward the end he started getting more handsy with the dough.  He liked tearing it apart!  We gave him some cookie cutters to use but I think next time I’ll also give him a plastic knife and a cut-up straw to poke around with.

I also saw this recipe for play-doh using conditioner and cornstarch which I thought could be interesting to try sometime!
