28 weeks

Remember how last week I said my nesting instinct was manifesting itself in an obsession over the kitchen floor?  It changed.  I’m now full-fledged crazy about getting the freezer full of food.  I get seriously jazzed whenever I put something in there and I feel weirdly protective of it, like a hoarder.  So far I’ve got blueberries, strawberries, blueberry muffins, chocolate zucchini muffins, and applesauce, but I have big plans for some chilis and soups and hopefully more applesauce.  But really it’s weird how much I want to fill the freezer.

Running is still going well – I’m doing 4 or 5 miles about 6 times a week without much problem.  By the end of the day my hips are often a little sore – more the back of my hips, in my butt – but by the next morning everything feels great again.  I’ve slowed back down some, too.  Last night I got a chance to do the Tuesday night trail 5k and came in at 30:01 (which at 85 degrees and after dinner was a still a better pace than the 4 miles I’d done that morning).  I think I was dead last but I had a lot of fun.  Next week is the last race!

I’m feeling a lot of internal kicks toward my back, which feels a little strange, like involuntary shudders.  Whereas last week I was up 12 pounds this week I’m up 14.  Like I said: I go a few weeks not gaining and then gain a couple overnight.  I’m sure Leo’s birthday weekend didn’t help much either!

Overall I’ve been a little tired this week, definitely feeling my hips if I stand for a long period of time, and definitely think my belly has gotten bigger (which I love).  Happy first week of the third trimester!

  1. Fill the freezer! I like it. I might do it just so I can be lazy in the winter.

I am so glad the running is still going well. And you look good doing it.

  2. Hee hee. I am SUCH a food hoarder. I can’t imagine what I would do if I had a huge freezer.

I love how active you are!!! You rock 🙂

  3. omg–you’re already in your 3rd trimester?!?! your baby bump is the cutest. and that’s great you’ve been able to run this far into the pregnancy *again*!!!! I’m sure it makes such a difference for you. 🙂
