I crave milkshakes in the summertime, especially on roadtrips, but I barely ever buy them. The other weekend I was driving back from Michigan and decided to stop at McDonalds and get a chocolate milkshake. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had one! The shake was delicious – sweet and cold – and I sucked it down superfast. And then less than 30 minutes later I was calling Dave to help keep me awake. The sugar coma hit hard and I was really struggling not to fall asleep!
Here’s a shake that is cold and chocolatey but won’t put you in a sugar coma.
Stay Awake Chocolate Shake
- 1 banana, chopped in large pieces and frozen
- 2 handfuls spinach
- 1c. milk (may need more)
- 2T. unsweetened cocoa powder
Throw all the ingredients in the blender and blend til smooth. Add more milk as necessary to get it to blend. Serve drizzled with chocolate syrup. Makes 1 large shake.
