I headed out for a run yesterday morning, the first in awhile. I got to watch the sun rise while I ran, saw lots of ducks nesting, and basically had the trail to myself for the majority of the run. I started out feeling really good. I felt strong. I felt fast. About halfway through I started to feel tired and thought about just heading home and cutting the run short. Instead, I slowed my pace down a notch and finished out the run, 4.5 miles in 44:20. I can be a pace nazi and get frustrated if I can’t run the pace I want or maintain it. So I bail. But if I run for fun, which is what I want to be doing, then it doesn’t matter what pace I go. I’m out there. I’m enjoying a quiet morning. I’m enjoying time by myself. I’m doing what I love. Yesterday morning was a great reminder to me to run for fun, no matter what the pace!
I came home and did the Moms Into Fitness video as well. And on my lunch break I took a 4 mile walk with my sister-in-law. I learned another lesson there – at 9 months, Leo doesn’t just want to sit in a stroller. He wants entertainment. I need to pack toys!
Leo learned something yesterday, too: baby gates are tons of fun!
