moms into fitness

My friend Kara told me about some workout videos she’s used called Moms into Fitness.  The name is a little dorky/cheesy sounding, but she assured me that they were quality workouts.  At her urging, I checked out the website and found out that by giving my email address, I could receive 4 free workouts.  Heck yes!  I signed up on Tuesday and received my first video that day, a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout lasting 20 minutes.  Last night after Leo went down I tried it out and was pretty impressed.  I did 5 different exercises, 4 sets each, 40 seconds on, 20 seconds rest:

  • running planks
  • monster lunges
  • tricep dips and donkey kicks
  • switch lunges and tuck jumps
  • in-and-out push-ups

Definitely a good workout and worked areas of my body that I don’t normally focus on (arms, plyometrics).  It’s pretty short (20 minutes), so I think I would probably do it in addition to another exercise (a run, another video, etc.).  Bonus that the instructor’s voice wasn’t annoying!

Other workouts this week: a walk with my mom and Leo this morning and on Tuesday night I did some running/walking through the hilly neighborhood – 2 blocks hard running, 1 block walking, repeated for about 30 minutes.

What’s your favorite workout video?

  1. Insanity is my all-time favorite workout video. I’m currently in week 6 of the 60-day challenge and I’m more sore now than I was when I started. Granted Month 2 is about 30 minutes longer also but I’m finding that I’m having no problem doing the workout as I did when I first did month 2 about a year ago. With that said, I’m still running and doing that also so that might have a lot to do with it. Those in-and-out pushups are no joke.

  2. That sounds like a really good workout! Definitely things I wouldn’t think to do on my own!

You know, my fave video is the Shred. I guess I am old school like that?

  3. I have never even heard of a running plank. I’m going to google that one. I have a vicious love hate relationship with planks. Keep up the hard work!

  4. Yay cool! If you ever get the Dvd the 12 week program the first 4 weeks are only 1 interval the next 4 weeks are 2 intervals and the last is 3…. I like that it is quick and that she also focuses on areas (all) that mothers who just had a baby need to work on…not just abs but you know:) I love hearing what you do…it motivated me!!!
