trail run

Dave always seems to know what I need, even when I don’t.  Yesterday it was awesome out – in the 50s, sunny – and Dave said I should run outside.  I agreed, but as the day wore on I got less and less motivated for the 7 miles I had on the schedule.  I thought about just pounding out a few miles on the treadmill and calling it a day.  Dave kept insisting on a plan to go to the park, with Leo, where I could run and he could walk around with the stroller.  I was not super enthused about the whole thing and mostly tried to play noncommittal in hopes that it might not work out.

Dave made it work out.

It took less than 5 minutes for me to realize this is exactly what I needed.  A run outside.  Alone.  Up and down trails.  Spotting deer.  Sweating.  Seeing other people.  Seeing dogs.  Without a baby monitor.  Feeling tired.

I can’t be exactly sure of the mileage, but I ran for 65 minutes, and I’m calling that 7 miles.

January run total: 128.6 miles

A couple pictures from the outing (thanks to Dave!):

How have you been enjoying all the warm weather?

  1. It was an amazing 65 here yesterday. The kids and I took off from school and ran to the park together (a little over half mile away). They had playtime while I continued my run and finished with a nice walk. What a great way to end January!

  2. So glad you had a great run outside. I wanted to enjoy the spring-like weather up here so I tried to run outside last night. It was horrible, seeing as I’m not even close to recovered from my 1/2 and multiple plane trips, but I got in 2 miles so I’m letting it count. Getting splashed by a car and having to run thru giant slush-filled puddles only added to the awesome. *cue sarcasm*

  3. Aww! I love Dave. He’s so good 🙂 I hope to meet him someday.

I love seeing deer on my run! It makes me feel like I am running in the wild 🙂
