the shame

I went to the dentist today for my 6 month check up.  I’m one of those rare, weird people who actually really like going to the dentist!  But today was sad news – I have a cavity!  I haven’t had a cavity since I was 8 and I was pretty proud of my cavity-less streak, so today was a humbling day.

The shame!!!  I head back in December to have it filled.  Rats.

Dave and I are headed out later today to go visit some friends.  And tomorrow I’ll run my first race post-partum – the W.O.O.F. trail race!  Dave and I ran this race together 2 years ago – Dave did the 5 mile and I did the 16.  I was very tempted to sign up for the 16 mile race again this year (knowing I would run/walk it), but finally decided to do the 5 mile so we could have more time with our friends.  It was actually a really hard decision for me, since I love to push myself with running, and 5 miles doesn’t feel like much of a challenge.  So instead I’ll push myself with speed (or “speed”… let’s be honest, I’m not that fast)!

What are you up to this weekend?

Are you cavity free?

  1. I didn’t get a cavity until after I had my first child! When I told my dentist I was pregnant I was told my teeth would never be the same afterward, and I would have many more problems/cavities. Sure enough – I have had three filled in 2 years!

  2. I agree, pregnancy has caused me so many mouth problems too! I’ve always had teeth trouble, even though I brush 4x a day, floss, mouth rinse, etc….I think it’s just genetic. But I went last week for the first time post-baby and let’s just say it is bad….three-more-trips-back bad!! 😦

  3. I am looking forward to you thinking about all the work I will be piling on you Monday when you return.

  4. Good luck on your race tomorrow! You’re going to do great!

I’m cheering on my husband at his first half marathon tomorrow! It’s the same race I did last year right after I found out I was pregnant. 🙂

  5. Have run with your race this weekend! I am running a half on Sunday (my first half since the best.race.ever in Indy in May).

  6. I love going to the dentist too! I love having my teeth cleaned and how great they feel. I keep getting cavities too. I think I eat too much sugar. Or maybe just have bad luck!
