summer dinners

No reader recipe poll this week.  Dave and I are headed out of town on Thursday and I want to make sure we eat everything in the fridge, not put more leftovers in it!

We got the baby room thisclose to finished this weekend (well except for wall stuff).  I’ll leave you with a teaser photo of Mosie.

Once we get the dresser set up we’ll take some final pictures of the room and give you the whole before/after.  It’s been so fun to watch it come together!

We started off our weekend on Friday night with an awesome summer dinner: roasted oven potatoes, corn on the cob, and snap peas!

Friday night we put together baby furniture.  Saturday I had breakfast with friends and then Dave and I took care of house stuff – putting together more baby stuff, doing a huge recycling run, organizing, etc.  I sorted all the baby clothes we’ve received (as gifts or hand-me-downs) into 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18 month piles.  This way I can wash them and store them already sorted and hopefully make things a little easier for dressing baby boy.  But first I need to buy some nonscented detergent to wash them!  Sunday we had a church picnic and then some time with family.  The weekend went waaaay too fast!  Fortunately, I just have to make it through Wednesday – as of Thursday I’ll be on vacation!

What’s your favorite summer dinner?  I love good corn on the cob… as long as that’s part of it, it feels like summer to me!

  1. Love corn on the cob! I had braces in the last few years and it was brutal not to be able to eat it from the cob. It was my first post-braces meal!!!

We also LOVE footlong hot dogs in the summer. They are a treat.

  2. I love corn on the cob too and we had it last night for dinner! Hot dogs and anything grilled makes me think of summer. Oh and popsicles.

  3. I can’t wait until Thursday! Will it hurry up already? (Actually not yet, because I need to clean first!)

  4. That summer dinner looks perfect! I also love corn on the cob and roasted potatoes! My ideal summer meal would probably be those with some watermelon, freshly-brewed iced tea and a green salad!

  5. I love fresh corn on the cob. We have been grilling ours on the BBQ and that is my new favorite way of cooking it. My family has also been getting into roasting all kinds of veggies and I find myself looking forward to family dinners instead of thinking about what to avoid eating while there.
