salad power

Yesterday Dave and I stopped in the local hardware store to pick up a few items.  I absolutely ADORE the smell of hardware stores.  There is nothing better!

Totally normal to get blissed out as you huff the hardware store smell.

We stopped at Kroger for some groceries and scored 5 boxes of Annie’s mac and cheese – $1 each!  Good to have on hand next time I have a hankering for carbs and cheese.  Oh, that would be almost always.

I made it home and somehow resisted immediately opening up the mac and cheese.  Instead, I had a big salad – it’s been awhile since salad has sounded good.  This one tasted awesome.

  • spinach
  • hardboiled egg
  • nutritional yeast
  • sunflower seeds
  • tomatoes
  • ranch dressing

I like salads in cake pans – so much easier to stir.  Or mixing bowls.  Either works.

What are some of your favorite smells?  I love hardware stores, rain, lilacs, clean laundry hung outside to dry, fresh baked bread, and the insides of new shoes.  Oh, and Mosie’s cat breath.

What are your favorite salad toppings?  Sunflower seeds, tomatoes, hardboiled eggs, avocado, Annie’s “Goddess” dressing, goat cheese, and sesame sticks.

  2. favorite smells=libraries, attics, old barns, line dried sheets, the farmers’ market….
favorite salad toppings (changing daily)=avocado, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, cucumber…

  3. That salad picture almost looks like my salad. I usually mix romaine and spinach. Salted sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, a hardboiled egg, blue cheese and sweet and sour dressing.

  4. Definitely campfires! #1 smell ever!

(BTW your blog loaded quite fast in my google reader. I wasn’t sure if you were doing anything different but normally it takes a long time for pictures to load. If you are doing something different, keep it up!)

  5. smells: i just hate hardware stores – sometimes joel and i worry we’ll get divorced before we can get out of that place (ok not really, but we struggle to get along in there making decisions!) but i do love the smell of rain, my sweet baby’s breath, eme’s breath too, fresh flowers, joel’s cologne, and a good candle

salad toppings? lately we’ve been having spicey chicken salads with bbq and ranch 🙂
