Give me all your ice cream and nobody gets hurt.
We’ve had warmer weather here the past two days – mid to high 30s – so I’ve been able to run outside both days! Most of the ice has melted from the sidewalks and roads, so I didn’t worry about falling. It felt so good to be outside again! Both my runs were an example in how pregnancy has modified my running:
Yesterday I got in 6.5 miles in 1:07:25 (10:22 avg. pace). Last year I aimed for slightly sub-9:00 average pace runs, but this year I’m not running as many miles a week and I’m also wanting to make sure I don’t overdo it. I felt like I could have kept going (which bodes well for the half marathon this weekend!) but didn’t have time.
This morning I ran 4 miles. Previously I tried to run this route in about 35 minutes. Today I did it in 38:45. Still, I was really pleased with this for a couple reasons: 1) I ran the first two miles in 19:45 (9:53 avg. pace) 2) I ran the last two miles in 19:00 (9:30 avg. pace) 3) the last two miles were also against gusting 20mph winds. It felt good to do the whole run under 10:00 pace!
Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ll be back tomorrow with how we celebrated.
Okay, now seriously, about that ice cream…
